New Jersey State Legislature
New Jersey has 40 legislative districts. Each elects one State Senator and two Assembly Members to two-year terms. The legislature meets in the capital, Trenton. As of 2026, both chambers are controlled by the Democratic party — the Senate 25–15 and the Assembly 57–23.
New York State Legislature
New York has 63 State Senate districts and 150 State Assembly districts, each electing one member to a two-year term. The legislature meets in the capital, Albany. As of 2026, both chambers are controlled by the Democratic party — the Senate 41–22 and the Assembly 103–47.
